There is an interesting variety of trees, perfectly adapted to the
hot, dry conditions, such as fig, carob and almond. But the jewels in
the Park's botanical crown are the many species of orchids (Barlia
robertiana, Anacamptis piramidalis, Ophrys and Orchis) and a wide
variety of fungi (Hygrocybe conicoides, Amanita gracilior, Lactarius
deliciosus fo. Rubescens).
Mondragó Nature Park is part of the area proposed as an Important
Community Zone (LIC) and a specially protected bird shelter (ZEPA) included
in the 2002 Nature Network.
